I tend to be a bit slow when it comes to picking up on new trends -- whether they be fashion, electronics, music, etc. So, although this may not be exciting to you, it is SUPER-DE-DUPER exciting for me!

It is an awesome photo book service with an impressive website, full of customization options and special features. Mixbook boasts one of the most customizable online photo book services and you can create online albums completely FREE!

As a traditional scrapbooker, I have been reluctant to try any type of digital scrapping. I love have the photographs in front of me. I adore working with the different textured papers, ribbons, buttons, embellishments.  However, I think I will also enjoy learning to work with Mixbook's free online services too.  I see it as another creative outlet.  I'm dying to share some of my creations...  Be warned, I am brand new at this, so I hope my creations improve vastly as I learn how to use Mixbook (and other online options) more efficiently.

Tell Me A Story...

I have a desire for my thoughts and memories to always be readily available to my children.

Don’t you ever wonder what our legacies will be? If more than only our records will be kept? If our stories will be told? In an age of emails and texts that are quickly read and discarded, or blogs that are written and deleted and lost in server crashes, what are we keeping to remember our family members by? What are we holding on to? Passing on for our families to find a hundred years from now?

I am always the picture-taker in our family. I am the scrapbooker. I am the one who records moments, big or small, that make us a family. However, I don’t always know the stories to write them down.

I've been wondering about the lives of those ancestors who are a part of my story. I want to know more about my grandparents... not just my memories of them, not just the documents that show where they came from, but the stories that shaped them into who they became. I’m wondering about my grandparents with many “greats” before their titles. Where did they come from? What were their struggles, their joys, their interests? Did they love to sing and dance and read like me? Did I miss the gene that made them good at math and cooking? Did they have dreams that were too big for their lifetimes, or did they accomplish things in their lifetimes that were bigger than their dreams?

As much as I want to know the facts, I want to know the stories.

It makes me want to start digging, even though I have no idea where to start. What about you? Do you know your history? Your lineage? Your ancestors stories? And have you made sure that you’re telling your own?!?!?

It's Been A While

Life is chaotic and I have not had the time or energy to write for a whole week. I went on my scrapbook weekend and had a phneomenal time. Came back in town and promptly had an awful bout of the flu on Tues and Wed. Beginning to feel human again. Good health is a precious blessing I take for granted. When?!

When exactly is summer, or SPRING for that matter, going to grace us, forsaken Minnesotans, with its presence? I am so very sick and tired of cold, ucky weather. The low temperature last night was 31 degrees. Over the weekend, my dad received FIFTEEN INCHES OF SNOW near his home in Alexandria. I would like to inform Mother Nature that her behavior over the past week has been completely unacceptable. Do I need to remind her that it is almost MAY?! Enough complaining about things out of our control...

For the upcoming weekend, I don't care what the weather will be like because I will be happily relaxing inside a beautiful lodge "up north" with lots of awesome friends but minus my children and husband as I scrapbook until my little heart is content. Life is so good. I can't wait!!!
