Wedding Tagging

I saw this tag going around quite a while ago, but have just now decided to play along.

1. Where did you and your husband meet? One of my best friends from high school begged me to join her as she went boating/waterskiing with a new boyfriend. Husband is her boyfriend’s brother. And as a side note, that friend also married her beau, so one of my best friends in high school is now my sister in law. Qwinky-dink, eh?

2. How long before you kissed? First date. Never happened before I met him. Shhhh! I know…

3. Who kissed who first? He moved in and I may have met him half way. Seriously, who can remember these things?

4. How long from the time you met until you were engaged? Only about 7 YEARS. Ours is a long and convoluted relationship story. We met in 1998. We were engaged in September 2005 and married in November 2005.

5. How did he propose? It was my birthday. I was sitting on our living room couch, having just finished nursing our Little Princess, who was only ten DAYS olds. Out of the blue, he came over to the couch, kneeled down in front of me, said a bunch of sweet stuff while whipping out the ring.

6. Did he pick out the ring or did you? He picked out the ring but we had had conversations before, so he knew I wanted it simple and small.

7. Do you still like the ring? Love it!

8. Where was your wedding and reception? We were married in a tiny ceremony with only about 30 family members in Apple Valley, MN. Seven months later in June 2006, we had a traditional reception with 150 (?) people at the VFW in Cottage Grove, MN with dinner, dancing, DJ and way too much spirits and libations. (When I was younger and still lived in a idealist euphoric world, I was NEVER going to have a reception at a VFW, but when you add a few children and a large mortgage payment to the mix, the VFW price was right.)

9. How many bridesmaids did you have and who was your maid of honor? I had two maids of honor / bridesmaids – my sisters. Big E (then age 5) and Little Princess (then 2 months old) were our flower girls.

10. What color were your bridesmaid dresses? Mocha color that I still love, even if they didn’t and don’t.

11. What was your bouquet made of? Autumn colored flowers – mums, daisies, sleeping susans, roses.
12. Who gave you away? My dearest Mom. I LOVE THAT WOMAN!

13. Did you cry during your wedding? I don’t think so; I was just so nervous that I don’t remember.

14. What style was your dress? I wanted simple and classic. I had a strapless, champagne colored dress with a fitted waist and full bottom. No glitter, sequins, lace or other frou-frou stuff.

15. Was your wedding kiss sweet or sexy? Super short. Neither of us is into PDA.

16. Who caught your bouquet? I didn’t throw it at my wedding and honestly, I can’t remember if we re-enacted the bouquet or garter throw at our reception several months later.

17. What flavor was your cake? Almond cake with an amaretto filling and a white chocolate fondant frosting. It was our huge spurge for the ceremony (thank you, Mom!) since it was from Wuollet's Bakery. YUM!

18. Did you smash the cake onto each other's faces or feed it to each other nicely? Feed it nicely. I threatened Husband within an inch of his life that if there was ANY cake smashing, there would be immediate ball smashing.

19. What was "your song" that you danced to at your wedding? “I Don’t Want to Miss A Thing” by Aerosmith – of all the crazy songs…

20. What did you serve your guests to eat? After the tiny ceremony, everyone had Olive Garden catered into the wedding location. After the big reception several months later, we had traditional wedding buffet food – chicken breast, carved ham, mashed potatoes, steamed veggie medley, garden salad, bread rolls, etc.

21. What did your friends do to decorate your car? I don’t think they did anything, but I guess I can’t honestly remember.

22. What was your favorite wedding gift? Because of the time-disconnect between the tiny, family ceremony and the reception, we received almost no wedding gifts.

23. What was the worst wedding gift you got? Same answer as #22.

24. Where did you go on your honeymoon? Las Vegas, NV – four months after the ceremony.

25. Looking back, is there anything you would have changed about your wedding? I would have remembered the wedding music! I CAN NOT BELIEVE THAT I FORGOT THE MUSIC CD!!! Our ceremony was music-less -- highly disappointing.

I tag anyone that wants to play along and relive their wedding day!

Hives

Wow! Some days are great.

Yesterday morning I woke up with hives. At first I thought it was just my sensitive skin acting up again, but after several hours of itching like crazy -- basically until my skin bled -- I decided it was more than just sensitive skin.

If you have never had the pleasure of having hives, let me describe it for you. It's like being covered with mosquito bites... everywhere.

A thousand of them.

On your scalp, your eyes, inside your ears, your shoulders, your elbows, your forearms, your hands, your stomach, your crotch, your thighs, your knees, your shins, your ankles and, my personal favorite, the soles of your feet.

I was scratching so much that my husband said I looked like a dog... with fleas... and bedbugs.

SERIOUSLY?!?!?!?!?!?! People! Have some sympathy!

The Hubster brought me some Benadryl, but I was feeling miserable and too far gone to be very gracious. So well all other pretty families were enjoying their Sunday morning brunch, I was all like, "Yo Dude! Isn't there something else up in here a bit stronger than Benadryl?"

There was. It was called Diet Pepsi and RUM! Given the fact that Hubster was sick of my psychotic Sybil-imitation, he was happy to oblige. Despite the fact that it was only noon on Sunday and a proper combo of Benadryl and alcohol was likely to put me into a slurring, sleeping heap of non-helpful parenthood.

I guess he thought that was preferable to my Tourette's like screaming of obscenities as I scratched my skin into bloody ribbons and perhaps because my children were beginning to think I was crazy as I kept taking off my socks to scratch the bottom of my feet.

Also, I may have slightly resembled a leper.

I was so agitated that I want to tear my own skin open. I actually told my poor Hubster that I was to the point that I would rather take off all my clothes and wriggle around on a bed of nails, or rub up on the scratchy side of a Velcro rug, than stand there and talk to him.

So five minutes later, it was with a smile that That Man brought me a rather strong glass of Diet Pepsi and Rum. I'm sure that I no longer looked like a dog.

Because this chick? Was sweating like a pig from all of the wiggling and scratching.

Too Much Info - You Have Been Warned

CHILD WARNING -- Do not proceed if your child can read.

There is just NO TIME for love in the morning! Not to mention... the need for "porno sex" (definition: NO KISSING) due to horrific morning breaths on both parties! UGH!

Sigh... it is sad when sleep takes precedence over sex. But it happens! And as a parent of several children, I am here to warn you that sleep will ALWAYS take precedence over sex to this mommy.

I remember when I first met Hubby a bazillion years ago. We could be spontaneous and carefree and... and... often. It was nice.

I miss those carefree days of getting naked at a moments notice and playing a little grab ass for hours on end. Sleep?! We didn't need no stinkin' sleep.

Okay. Er, well... let's be honest. Perhaps Hubby wasn't up to hours on end, even back in The Day -- but it was more than it is now from BOTH of us.

Several years and several kids later, things are just a tad different. Let me start by saying while my desire for Hubby has not waned [much - we are being honest, right?!], my energy level sure as hell has. Particularly shall we say in the morning. Let me say it LOUD so there is no mistaking.

I DO NOT LIKE SEX FIRST THING IN THE MORNING! I really don't get it. Yes, I know that most men are, shall we say "at attention" first thing in the morning. But surely, my finger-in-a-light-socket hairstyle and morning breath should fix that little problem.

What's that you say? I should get up and brush my teeth and fix my hair.

"What you say, Willis?!?"

What's the point?

By then I'm up and if I'm up, I need to be getting ready for work or start fixing breakfast, or begin tending to little ones. Mornings at my lovely estate do not lend themselves to quality lovemaking. And while a quickie every now and then is supposedly okay, I'm more about the quality loving.

When I question Hubby's rationale for waking me up at o'dark thirty for a little mattress mambo, I truly believe that somewhere in the depths of his mind, he thinks maybe I'll come around.

To which I say with utter defiance - As if! Not likely!

Try to catch me in the afternoon. Perhaps, catch me just before bed. Hell, wake me up in the middle of the night with a nice round of foreplay. At least then I'll know I can get a few more winks of beauty rest before I have to get up at the ass crack of dawn to face the perils of each day.

So Hubby, my parting words to you are this, tread very lightly when it comes to morning lovin'. The next time I feel that familiar poke and/or the familiar boob grab while slurpin on my neck and the birds are simultaneously chirping -- don't be pissed if all you get in return is loud snoring or more likely, are met with the stinging of a king size pillow smack dab on the side of your cheek.

Don't say I didn't warn you...

If the birds are a chirpin', don't come a slurplin'!!!

All About My Husband

This is the "Spouse Meme" - I tag anyone who wants to play. :-)

1) Husband's Name: never before revealed on my blog, but Hubby's REAL name is.... (drum roll please) Christopher

2) How long have you been married? Since November 5, 2005

3) How long did you date? We had our first date in May 1998. I was 20 and he was 23. We were, but, little children...

4) How old is he? He is 34; I am 31.

5) Who eats more sweets? Used to be me... and, yeah -- it's still me. Unfortunately, he isn't a fan of sweet treats.

6) Who is the better singer? (snorting chuckle) Neither of us! But he thinks he can sing. I mean that with the utmost respect and kindness. We truly cannot sing any better than a drowning cat.

7) Who is smarter? Hubby is DEFINITELY smarter. He remembers stuff from school that I am STUNNED he can recall. He also remembers stuff that happened to us when we were dating a million years ago.

8) Who does the laundry? We both do.

9) Who pays the bills? He does but I wish I did... I am out of the loop and finances tend to massively stress me out, so I close my eyes, take a deep breath and let him handle ALL of it.

10) Who sleeps on the right side of the bed? If you look at the head of the bed from the foot of the bed, I do. The right side is closest to the bedroom door so the kids can wake me up first. (Honestly, I hear them walk in the room anyway...)

11) Who mows the lawn? He does... and let me tell you, he is often complaining about it. I am allergic to fresh cut grass. Seriously! I end up laid up in bed for the rest of the day if I cut the grass. No joke. I don't even play outside in the yard with the kids on days that the grass is cut. Tragic, isn't it?

12) Who cooks dinner? Me. Always me. He rarely cooks -- even on weekends. Claims he doesn't know how, but I know he is intelligent and knows how to read (!), so I am not buying it! i.e. Try reading a recipe, Honey.

13) Who drives? He always drives if we're together.... always. Unless excessive amounts of alcohol are digested.

14) Who is the first to say they are wrong? I think it may be a draw. We are both VERY stubborn.

15) Who kissed who first? He kissed me. I am old fashioned and don't think I have EVER kissed someone else first. Plus I am a huge chicken s**t.

16) Who asked who out first? I am old fashioned about the kissing thing, but not about asking for dates. I am fairly sure I asked him out first, but I have a terrible memory, so I may need to edit this in the fiuture.

17) Who wears the pants? We make big decisions together. We co-parent our children. (My husband is very patient and loving... GREAT dad!) We truly are partners in every sense of the word. So, I guess you could say we both "wear the pants". Like all couples, we have disagreements, but we resolve them.

We're in this for the long haul. Huh, Honey!!!
